Definition: The theft of property (usually less than $500) from a retail establishment which occurs with the intent to deprive the owner of that piece of property.
Also Known As: stealing, five finger discount, boosting
Alternate Spellings: shop lifting
Examples: Our retail shop had a 3% shrinkage last year and the majority of the loss was due to shoplifting.
